VLOG- Protecting Children
Last week I had the chance to attend a luncheon about the Understanding Our Digital Culture and Human Trafficking- explaining the connection between pornography and trafficking. As long as I have been in this fight, I am still learning so much.
I am going to link the three organizations below, but I did a short VLOG to explain their talks:
Love People Not Pixels fights the demand for human trafficking demand reduction strategies which focus on (1) eliminating buyer motivation & (2) reducing buyer access to the exploited.
Refuge for Women is a national faith-based organization providing a residential healing and recovery program for survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation to receive safe housing, counseling, life and work skills development.
Childproof America empowers families in the battle against sex trafficking. Our mission is to educate, equip and empower America’s parents in the protection and defense of their children, and improve the quality of aid to impacted families. As advocates, we provide legislative pathways for concerned Americans to enforce harsh penalties to those violating the innocence of our children.
Got to hear from 3 amazing organizations: Love People Not Pixels, Refuge for Women, Childproof America. And I want to share with you some of what I learned.
In this VLOG I talk about another organization I really love for parents of young kiddos called Birds & Bees. I am a believer it’s important for parents to have small conversations with their children over time around the difficult topic of sex. This organization’s curriculum is easy, makes it less scary, and I’m hopeful when my kids grow up and have harder questions about sex they will know they can come to mom and dad. The biggest question I’d ask, if this sounds crazy to you, “your children are going to hear about sex. Do you want the information to come from you?”
The books I reference are Good Pictures Bad Pictures (age 7-11) and Good Pictures Bad Pictures Jr. (age 3-6) you can find them here or on Amazon.
